Elk Horn Lodge * 3489 County Road 10 * Meeker, Colorado
Excellent Hunting Property and year around getaway. 80 Acres Bordering the White River National Forest.
Located about 24 miles east of Meeker. The property is about two miles south of County Road 10, the South Fork of the White River, up above the South Fork valley. Covered with pine and aspen trees, this property is very secluded and private. There is a spring on this property, near the National Forest, which the owners have tapped into, that provides very good domestic water to the lodge and also fills a pond, just below the lodge. A few other springs run into the pond and on down Smith Gulch.

The lodge was originally built in 1977 and then was extensively remodeled and add onto in the past several years. This is a frame built lodge with log siding. All on one level, there is 1,632 square feet of living space, plus a 400 square foot covered deck on the east side of the home and a small porch on the north side.

The views from the east deck overlook the pond and to the northeast a gap in the trees provides an awesome view of Buford Ridge and Buford Peak.

The property is around it's perimeter and an interior fence surrounds the lodge and grounds to keep horses away from the house and yard. An ATV and horse trail heads around on the south part of the property and into the National Forest from in back of the lodge. The pond provides good livestock watering.

From the east deck a door opens into the big kitchen and a nice big living room. The kitchen has custom wood cabinets, a large center island, a side by side refrigerator, a dishwasher, a smooth top electric range with a hood, and an under cabinet mounted microwave oven. A big dining area completes the kitchen.

The big living room has a wood burning stove, newer Berber carpeting and stereo and satellite TV equipment. The walls of the kitchen, living room, and north entryway are all tongue & groove aspen wood.

Off of the dining room, there are two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a laundry room, with two electric water heaters, a clothes washer and dryer.
The lodge is heated by electric baseboard heaters and the wood burning stove in the living room. They even have telephone.

On the other side of the north entryway is a big 3/4 bathroom and two more big bedrooms.

Located north of the lodge is a 264 square foot shed, split into two rooms, one a tack room and the other for tools and equipment. There's also a corral area.

This property is located in hunting unit 24. The legal description is T1S, R91W, Section 21, E1/2SE1/4. The road is rough and steep from County Road 10 and the property is accessible in the winter by snowmobile or foot only. No winter maintenance. This is a private road providing access to only the properties in the grid with names written in them. The spring on this property also provides domestic water to two adjacent neighbors.
In the map above this property is the two 40 acre squares at the bottom left of the grid. To the left of the grid, which is south of the property, is White River National Forest land. Burro Mountain is about four miles to the south of this property.
